137: Misunderstanding
After separating from Xu Wen, Wang Cheng looked at the time and found that only an hour and a half had passed. It was 4:30, half an hour before the time he said he’d meet Yuan Xia. Yuan Xia didn't have classes in the afternoon, but he still had to correct the homework assignments of the students, so he was still in school, and it took half an hour for him to finish up. Although Yuan Xia got his driver's license, he didn't usually drive to the university, so Wang Cheng proposed to pick him up at Shanhai University, and Yuan Xia hesitated before agreeing.
Shanhai High School and Shanhai University were neighbors. Wang Cheng could find the high school that he had studied at for three years with his eyes closed. Going to Shanhai University was not a problem.
Before going, Wang Cheng first called Chu Yifeng and told him that he might not have dinner with him at night, briefly explaining about Yuan Xia.
His lover did not accompany himself but accompanied another man?
Chu Yifeng said that it seemed his lover didn’t think he was good enough.
Wang Cheng threw down that he would find a chance to accompany him next time for dinner, hung up the phone, and then called home.
Chu Yifeng could handle it well; Mama Wang couldn’t. If he didn’t go back for dinner at night, he must make a phone call to explain clearly, so that Mama Wang would believe that he was really having a meal with his friend Yuan Xia. Wang Cheng spent much effort, and finally promised that he would go home after dinner to comfort his mother. If it had been before, she would worry about it, but after the main road was paved, it took less than an hour to drive from the city to the Guan’s Village. Even if it was 9:00 before he left, he could hurry home before 10:00.
The car was parked at the entrance of Shanhai University. Although the school did not have the rigor of Beijing University, vehicles other than alumni were not allowed to enter, even if they were looking for friends. Wang Cheng had to call Yuan Xia to tell him that he had arrived.
Five minutes later, Yuan Xia's figure appeared at the gate of the school. He greeted the old man at the gate and rushed towards him.
"I let you wait long." Yuan Xia said while sitting in the car.
"It was just a few minutes." Wang Cheng shrugged.
As the car drove out of the Shanhai University’s gates, a camera protruded from behind a big tree and came out to shoot at the car, and the number of clicks was endless, but neither of the photographed parties found out.
Wang Cheng took Yuan Xia to a place where the two used to go to eat. Only then did he learn Yuan Xia’s other half was not in Shanhai City for a while, and that he had gone to work in the Imperial Capital. He had been there for half a month, but only made occasional phone calls.
Yuan Xia was a good-looking person with a gentle personality. It was reasonable to say that he shouldn’t have no friends at his university, but he just couldn’t make sincere friends.
The reason was actually not complicated. Yuan Xia was the youngest professor at Shanhai University. Teachers his age were mostly assistants. There was no second young person like him in Shanhai University history who had been crowned professor at such a young age. It was unavoidable for his co-workers to be jealous, but Yuan Xia's popularity among students was very good.
Yuan Xia didn't want to find Wang Cheng at all. After all, Wang Cheng hadn’t called him for a while, so knowing that Wang Cheng must be busy, he couldn't bear to make a phone call today. He didn't expect that his luck was so good, Wang Cheng happened to be in the city.
"I didn't want to bother you, but I can't find anyone, so I can only find you."
"It's not troublesome to say things between friends, you can just tell me anything you need." Wang Cheng said this cheerfully. He didn't really have many friends, but Yuan Xia could count as one.
Yuan Xia looked around and immediately lowered his voice: "In fact, I always feel that someone is following me, especially near my house, as if someone is peeping. I have heard footsteps behind me several times, but when I look back, I don’t find anyone. I didn't dare tell him because I was afraid he would be worried, but I can’t keep going like this."
Wang Cheng was stunned, "Why didn't you tell me earlier? You should have said so. You forgot about the last time when you were almost abducted? Even if the person following you hasn't acted on you, you can't let it go. Maybe the other party is looking for a more appropriate time." It took so many days for him to say it that he really wanted to knock on his mind and see what he was thinking.
Yuan Xia couldn't say anything to refute it, he also knew that he wasn’t conscious enough of the crisis.
"Well, I'll accompany you home after dinner." Wang Cheng said with no room for rebuttal; he wanted to know what was wrong, he always felt that something was off.
After they checked out, Yuan Xia insisted on paying, so Wang Cheng just let him pay the bill, and then they left the shop. The two were walking to the parking lot while talking, when Wang Cheng suddenly stopped: it seemed that the feeling was not an illusion. He also felt someone’s gaze staring at them, and vigilantly, calmly sent Yuan Xia downstairs to his house. Wang Cheng asked him to go up first, and then walked towards a certain corner. Yuan Xia looked at his posture and knew that there was something going on, so how could he be willing to go up? When he chased after him, a strange man suddenly fell over towards him, as if he had been beaten up, and then Wang Cheng came over.
"This person should be the one who has been following you. Should I send him to the police?"
Before Yuan Xia answered, the other party called out first.
"No, I'm not a bad person."
"Which bad guy would say he's a bad guy?" Wang Cheng said amusedly, with his arms folded.
The man stood up, looking at Wang Cheng with a little fear, "I'm telling the truth. My name is Dong Zi, and Mr. Jiang sent me to protect Mr. Yuan."
Yuan Xia was surprised, "Mr. Jiang, you mean Jiang Xuan?"
"Yes, it is Mr. Jiang, Jiang Xuan. Mr. Jiang was worried that you could not take care of yourself after he went to the Imperial Capital, so he let me protect you secretly in case of an attacker."
"So it's you who's been following me these days?"
Yuan Xia couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry. He didn't expect it would be this relationship, because if so, he was frightened in vain during this time.
Dong Zi nodded. "Yes, you can call Mr. Jiang and ask."
Wang Cheng finally remembered who Jiang Xuan was. When he first heard it, he felt it was a little familiar, but it had been too long, so he couldn't remember. It turned out that Jiang Xuan was Shen Yuan's friend he met when he went to the bar to drink last time, when he got drunk in front of Chu Yifeng for the first time and took advantage of him. He did not expect that he was Yuan Xia's lover. However, it was not out of the blue. Jiang Xuan was the chairman of Hongyu Group, and he had taken Yuan Xia to the Hongyu Group Company back then.
"Sorry, Wang Cheng, I let you run for nothing." Yuan Xia couldn't blame Jiang Xuan's kindness and understood the other party's actions. Previously, because he was not used to having someone follow him, Jiang Xuan agreed not to send someone over again at his request. However, Jiang Xuan was still worried that he would have an accident, after all, so he secretly called someone to continue following him without telling him.
Wang Cheng shook his head. "It's better to be a misunderstanding than something else. It's nothing to run around for no reason. Since you're fine, I'm relieved."
Yuan Xia was still apologetic.
Wang Cheng told him not to think too much and that they should eat together again. Before leaving, he said to the man carefully: "It’s Dong Zi, yeah? Find some time to learn again how to follow people. Your skills are really bad, don't you think? It was not hard not to find you."
Dong Zi was ashamed.
Yuan Xia saw that Wang Cheng was leaving, but he did not forget to ridicule others. He couldn't help but laugh, and the tension he had in recent days was relieved. At this moment, he didn't know that there was a bigger storm waiting for him. Yuan Xia gave Jiang Xuan a call later and confirmed that Dong Zi was sent by him. Although he reproached the other between words, he was more relieved and happy.
It wasn’t yet nine o'clock when Wang Cheng returned home. After leaving Yuan Xia, he went to the company to find Chu Yifeng with the food he bought in the restaurant. Knowing that he was going to eat with Yuan Xia, Chu Yifeng simply stayed at the company to work overtime. After the two ate dinner and Yuan Xia made the phone call, he went to the company, but he promised his mother that he would go back early so he didn't stay in the company for long.
Mama Wang was waiting for him in the living room, and Papa Wang was forced to wait with her.
A few days had passed. Although the mother and the child weren’t quarreling so stiffly anymore, Papa Wang still didn’t know what game the duo was playing at now. If he knew now, he would send him away after a sentence. Papa Wang had no more tears to cry.
Wang Cheng was not surprised to see the two. He told them about how renting the shop turned into buying the shop, and he hinted that he would be very busy from tomorrow on, going to the city from time to time. However, Mama Wang probably knew he was an adult with his own judgment, and strictly controlling him could only play a temporary role. In the long run, he still had to rely on his conscience, so she did not mention this matter again. Although it differed from what was planned, it was always a good thing, especially because the price of the agreement was much lower than they expected. The husband and wife were smart people, and at this point, could see that they were taking the good end of the deal. The husband and wife thought it was due to Wang Cheng and were thankful.
Once Mama Wang was settled, Wang Cheng was relieved a lot. However, when Mama Wang followed as soon as he went upstairs, he knew at a glance that she had something to say.
