213: Only Missing Your Nephew
On the fourth day of the first lunar month, the New Year's tide had entered its countdown. Both Father Zheng and Zheng Jingen ended their holidays and went back to work. After receiving a phone call from Chu Yifeng, Wang Cheng left the Zheng mansion and got into a car parked outside. When Mother Zheng walked out with the scarf he had forgotten, she could only see the retreating silhouette of the car.
"Where are we going?" Wang Cheng rubbed his hands and asked Chu Yifeng, who was in the driver's seat. He hadn't seen him for three days, but it felt like a long time.
Chu Yifeng turned at the fork in the road, and replied, "Going to the Chu house to pay New Year’s greetings."
Wang Cheng was discouraged. He was a bit tired from the three days of non-stop New Year's greetings. Dealing with the elderly was not an ordinary task. At the thought of the two Chu elders who still had opinions on him and Chu Yifeng, he felt that the next round would be a tough battle. It was really better to live on the mountain.
"It's good to get used to it." Chu Yifeng comforted, freeing a hand to pat his head. Wang Cheng had often complained to him over the phone these past two days, but they had to make the trip to the Chu house this time.
Wang Cheng patted his cheek. He didn't want to get used to it. However, he might really have to get used to it for every year. "First talk about who is in your house today."
Chu Yifeng smiled, saying: "You must get mentally prepared."
Wang Cheng suddenly had a bad hunch. Why did those words sound so foreboding?
When Chu Yifeng took Wang Cheng to the Chu family last time, it evolved from a showdown to a war. Others already knew this, and were not surprised that Chu Yifeng would start a fight with the bodyguards at home. What surprised them was that they had heard from Lei Yunze that Wang Cheng had even won over Ah Si.
As a result, everyone became more curious about Wang Cheng.
Chu Lei was the third child in the family. Chu Lei had not participated in the last family meeting, but he already knew that his nephew liked a man. There were so many people in the family, so it wasn’t his turn to worry about his nephew’s life events. It was only when he heard that Wang Cheng had won over Ah Si that he was a little curious about Wang Cheng. So, he asked his eldest nephew when he would bring him over to see him. Chu Yifeng said it was today, and so the people who planned to go out did not leave.
The car was parked in front of the Chu gate. As always, it was a severe front. He feared that even the two blessings on the door could not change the atmosphere.
When Wang Cheng got out of the car, he noticed that out of the cars parked in the yard, only two were luxury cars, and the others were military vehicles, neatly lined up.
"Boss Chu, your family is not going to have a family meeting today. Why does it seem like they are all there? I'll be one-to-one?" Wang Cheng wasn't afraid. He just thought that he would inevitably have to be watched when he entered. He didn’t know if he would fight with the group of bodyguards like he did last time. He didn’t mind the latter.
Chu Yifeng couldn't help but laugh, and grabbed his hand to pull him in. "Relax, I won't let you suffer, I'm carrying a gun."
The expression on Wang Cheng's face was immediately put away. He stared at him in surprise, "Even if there are several bullets in the gun, is one per person enough? Why didn’t you bring one for me when you brought it?"
After hearing his nonsense, Chu Yifeng patted his head lightly, "It’s enough for me alone to violate the law, don't talk nonsense. Go in."
The servant acting as a gatekeeper at the door had long been petrified. What did he hear? Young Master Chu brought his lover to kill the Chu family, and he planned to give the old master a bullet? On this fourth day of the new year, he heard a terrible secret...would he be silenced?
The Chu parents and juniors were gathered in the living room. When they heard the movement, everyone turned their heads tacitly. When they looked over, it was Chu Yifeng in the front, followed by his lover. The eyes of everyone fell on Chu Yifeng's hand that was holding Wang Cheng’s, and such intimacy almost blinded them.
"Grandpa, Grandma, I brought Wang Cheng to pay you New Year’s greetings." Chu Yifeng looked to Wang Cheng after saying this.
When receiving this signal, Wang Cheng immediately stood up and said in a satisfactory manner: "Old Man Chu, Old Lady Chu, I've come to wish you a happy new year. I wish you a happy new year with good health and good luck."
His attitude completely did not show the momentum of last time when he came to fight with the bodyguards. On the contrary, he seemed like a peaceful young man. The uninformed people were a little skeptical. Did this young man really beat Ah Si?
Old Man Chu took a sip of hot tea. Next to him, Chu Hong immediately took the tea cup and listened, humming: "It would be nice if everything goes well."
When Wang Cheng heard this, he suddenly remembered what happened when he was celebrating the new year at his maternal grandfather's house yesterday. "I can't guarantee that everything will go well, but there is a certain chance that you can live a longer life."
"What?" Old Man Chu was taken aback for a moment with his ability to shift the subject.
"Presumably, the old man already knows that I had a long-lived master. He lived for more than 120 years. There is a secret to it. I have already promised to teach my maternal grandfather. If the old man is interested, I can also teach you, with no charge." Wang Cheng smiled kindly, but he was just being dramatic by saying ‘no charge’.
Old Man Chu was not so easy to buy. His eyes seemed to penetrate into Wang Cheng's thoughts. "With this secret, you want me to agree to you and Yifeng? Do you think it is so simple?"
Wang Cheng was surprised: "You don’t have to learn if you don’t want to."
"Pfft." It wasn't Lei Yunze who laughed this time, but the two sons of Chu Lei. They were twins. The older brother was Chu Shuang and the younger brother was Chu Shucheng. They had just turned 18 this year and had been studying at a noble high school in a residential system; after this summer, they were heading to college.
It was the first time Wang Cheng saw the twins, and he noticed that they really looked like they were carved out of the same mold. When they saw him looking at them, the twins smiled at him. Chu Lei gave a light cough, and the twins glanced at the old man, immediately withdrawing their gazes.
Old Man Chu’s face tensed.
The old lady smiled, saying, "I don't know if I can learn it together with him?"
Wang Cheng nodded his head: "Of course, you can bring Old Man Chu with you."
"Listen to you, do you want two old people to learn from you?" This came from Chu Hong's wife, Jiang Zhuqing. The Jiang family had once covered the sky in the Imperial Capital, but had now faded. Fortunately, a thin camel was still bigger than a horse. The Jiang family later climbed up the Chu family before escaping the crisis of extermination.
Chu Yifeng looked at Jiang Zhuqing. "Second aunt, what are you saying?"
Jiang Zhuqing's expression froze.
Although Chu Yifeng's words sounded normal, everyone could hear the threat concealed within. They pretended that they didn't hear anything. It wasn't once or twice that Chu Yifeng had an opinion on Jiang Zhuqing. Even Chu Hong and his son did not say anything.
Jiang Zhuqing aside, the atmosphere was not bad this time. The old lady left Wang Cheng for lunch. She and Old Man Chu went for a walk in the yard, leaving the living room to the group of young people. When the two left, the juniors immediately let go. The bolder juniors pulled Wang Cheng to talk, with the topic revolving around his last battle. However, that conversation was driven away by several adults.
Chu Yinghua and her siblings were very interested in Wang Cheng. Although he and Chu Yifeng had a fight with the bodyguards at the Chu house last time, they did not hear of any dissatisfaction between the old man and Wang Cheng. Then, they guessed that the old man most likely already had a good impression of Wang Cheng in his heart. Today, Wang Cheng had blocked the old man, which was the exclusive right of his eldest nephew.
"Young man, you have courage. However, courage does not determine anything." Chu Yinghua still did not give up her original idea.
"I agree with this, that means being brave and intrepid." Wang Cheng nodded.
Chu Yinghua coughed lightly, "Let’s open the skylight and speak brightly. If you have any conditions or requirements, you can tell me. If it can be done, I will try my best. You are still young, and there are some things that aren’t as simple as you think. So, I hope you can seriously consider my proposal." The others immediately pricked their ears. They thought that Chu Yifeng would be angry, but he looked calm, which surprised everyone.
"No conditions, any requirements can be met?" Wang Cheng asked, hesitating.
On the contrary, Chu Yinghua was taken aback by his attitude. She nodded, "Anything as long as I can do it, or the Chu family can do it."
"But I don't lack anything right now," Wang Cheng said, counting on his fingers. "For money, my grandfather is the chairman of the Zhou Group; I have money to spend. If I want power, my grandpa is Zheng Heng. The only thing needed to complete my life is a partner, and your eldest nephew happens to meet my requirements. What do you think?”
Chu Yinghua never thought that she would be stung by a junior, and his words even made sense. She couldn’t help but laugh. "Okay, I understand what you’re thinking, I surrender. As long as you can let my parents agree with you, my opinion is not important."
"How can that be!" Jiang Zhuqing couldn't help it.
As soon as her words came out, many people frowned.
After Shen Jing received a hint from her husband Chu Wenting, she immediately got up and raised Jiang Zhuqing, saying gently, "Mom, Kunkun seems to be awake. Let's go and see him."
Jiang Zhuqing knew that everyone wanted to disengage her from starting trouble. Although she was not convinced, she had to obey. Her only support in the Chu family was her husband Chu Hong and her son. If even they ignored her in the future, she could really no longer live in the Chu house.
The troublemaker finally left, and the atmosphere warmed up again. When they saw the person they wanted to see, those who were supposed to go to work went to work, and the adults were all gone at once.
