294: Father and Daughter

Wang Cheng had been focused on Old Locke just now, so he hadn’t paid much attention to the girl. As soon as she spoke, however, he carefully examined the girl. The appearance of foreigners was generally more mature than Chinese from a younger age. The girl looked as if she could be twenty-something years old, but she was probably only nineteen years old.

She had the typical blond hair and blue eyes, and wore a snow-colored dress. She looked like a doll that would be advertised on TV, very cute, with her sweet dimples that showed when she laughed.

Before Wang Cheng could ask who she was, the girl took the initiative to stand up and walked in front of them. She first greeted Chu Yifeng by sweetly calling him ‘Leon Ge’, before she picked up her skirt with both hands and curtsied to Wang Cheng, very politely.

"Hello, I'm Sophie. I’ve heard Mama Emily talk about you before, and I wanted to know who exactly was able to capture Leon Ge's heart. Now that I’m finally meeting you today, I see that you really are quite handsome and a good match for Leon Ge. I wish you two all the best." Sophie was the granddaughter of Old Locke’s old friend. She had several brothers but was the only little princess in her family, so she had been loved since she was a child. However, this girl's character was very likable, she did not develop a domineering and unforgiving character just because she was doted on by her family; the arrogance of nobility could not be sensed from her. She was also one of Chu Yifeng’s worshippers. Ever since she heard about Chu Yifeng staying in China for a man, she had become quite curious. Like most people, she felt that very few people were worthy of Chu Yifeng.

The little girl said this quite directly, and it seemed as if she was saying 'I feel relieved leaving Leon Ge with you’.

Wang Cheng had originally assumed that this little Sophie girl might also be one of Chu Yifeng's admirers. He was waiting for her rebuke, and was stunned to hear her acceptance. On the other hand, Old Locke didn't seem to be satisfied with Sophie's statement. His intentions had long been seen through by Emily and Chu Yifeng.

Old Locke’s heart reserved ‘granddaughter-in-law’ for Sophie.. He’d always hoped that his grandson could be together with Sophie. Sophie was a good girl, he’d watched over her since she was young. If he could marry her into the Emer family, he’d have no regrets in this life. Unfortunately, although Sophie worshiped her grandson, it seemed to be pure worship. And her grandson also seemed to treat her as a sibling, he never expressed deeper love. However, Old Locke never gave up. This time, he deliberately brought Sophie back with him in hopes that it might give Sophie a sense of crisis, and then let her realize that what she felt for his grandson was actually love. However, he was still disappointed, not to mention that Emily had unexpectedly told her of Wang Cheng’s existence long ago.

Sophie was very interested in Wang Cheng, and her eyes lit up as she met Wang Cheng for the first time. She was usually quite weak to handsome guys, so she was interested in Wang Cheng at first sight. She pulled Wang Cheng to chat and asked a lot of questions, also telling him some interesting stories from Chu Yifeng's childhood.

This happened until Chu Yifeng began drinking vinegar. He unhesitatingly inserted himself between them to interrupt their continued intimate ear-biting*. Sophie immediately pouted in dissatisfaction.

[T/N: *closely whispering into each other’s ears]

"Leon Ge is so annoying, not even letting someone talk to Cheng Gege for a moment."

Calling him Cheng Gege after only speaking for a little. Of course he wouldn’t let them speak!

Old Locke couldn't bear to look directly at them, and asked Butler Zander for assistance in going upstairs to rest. They’d call him down for dinner.

"Boss Chu, your little sister Sophie is very cute." Wang Cheng took the opportunity to bite his ears with Chu Yifeng. Her personality was as cheerful as Jingxue’s, and she also spoke openly. She didn't have the reserve of a noble lady at all. That was for the better since they weren’t outsiders anyway.

Chu Yifeng folded his arms, "How? She talks too much."

Wang Cheng snickered, "That's better than if she were a shy girl. However, your grandfather doesn't seem to like me very much."

Chu Yifeng smiled disapprovingly, "Don't worry, he’ll have to accept it sooner or later."

When Wang Cheng heard him speak so certainly, he couldn't help but ask: "Seriously, are you not afraid that your grandfather will take Eimer away from you? Most parents would not want their family business to fall into the hands of an outsider in the future. If you are determined to stay with me, you won’t have any descendants."

"Then hurry up and give me one." Chu Yifeng's playful gaze fell on his stomach.

Wang Cheng pinched him hard in a place that no one could see, but Chu Yifeng didn’t bother to dodge or hide.

Butler Zander came to inform them that it was time for dinner, and went up to call Old Locke to come down. Sophie was also staying for dinner. She had been here so many times that the Eimer house just felt like her own. She also introduced Wang Cheng to the more delicious dishes, the ones that should be eaten in small bites, and the ones that should be eaten in big bites. The little girl was casual enough so that dinner was quite enjoyable.

Not long after dinner was over, two people came to visit: a man and a woman. The man was a tall gentleman who looked like he was in his fifties, and was either wealthy or nobility. When he walked in, his eyes seemed to rest on Mama Emily alone. The woman holding his arm was his beautiful, noble daughter. Her green eyes bent upwards with a sense of pride and her back was very straight; her every move seemed to contain etiquette.

The father and daughter first greeted Old Locke, then Emily, Chu Yifeng, and Sophie. When he saw Wang Cheng, Carla, the man, showed a hint of curiosity.

"I wonder who this is."

"My partner Zhou Cheng." The answer was Chu Yifeng, and then he introduced the two to Wang Cheng, "This is Mr. Carla, and his daughter Johanna."

"Good evening." Wang Cheng nodded with a smile.

"Good evening," Carla immediately responded politely, unlike his daughter who didn't respond. She kept staring at Wang Cheng, a little rudely. After being nudged by Carla, she saltily added a ‘good evening’. Carla and his daughter were also true nobles, both the father and daughter were of half British aristocratic blood. They were kind of family friends to Eimer. They didn't originally live in Italy, but ever since the father and daughter met Emily and Chu Yifeng, they both fell in love at first sight. So, they chased after them in Italy, wanting to be their neighbors. However, Eimer's main house was very large, and there was lots of land between their homes, so even as neighbors, they were far apart.

The two walked towards Emily and Chu Yifeng, trying to take all of their attention as soon as they sat down. In Three out of five sentences, they mentioned how Eimer could not leave them.

Sophie excused herself and asked for Wang Cheng to accompany her to the kitchen.

The chef had already left after he finished cooking dinner, and only two maids were left cleaning the kitchen. Sophie asked them to leave momentarily.

At first, Wang Cheng thought that Sophie wanted to eat snacks. However, after noticing her behavior, he realized that she had something to say to him. "Sophie, what are you trying to tell me?"

"Cheng Gege, what did you think about that Johanna just now when you met her?" Sophie beat around the bush, afraid that Wang Cheng thought she was a person who was always suspicious of others.

"Uh, she’s pretty." Wang Cheng was a little confused about where Sophie was going with this.

Sophie pouted and said, dissatisfied: "Besides beauty, didn’t you notice something else? Can’t you see that Johanna likes Leon Ge? This isn’t the first time this woman has come here. Every time she learns that Leon Ge is home, she’ll find an excuse to come knocking, with that condescending expression. She’s really annoying. Cheng Gege, don’t let her take Leon Ge away from you."

Wang Cheng was a bit dumbfounded. Of course, he could tell that Johanna liked Chu Yifeng. However, this woman was obviously out of the question. If Chu Yifeng was interested in her, the two would have long been together. He wasn’t worried about Johanna's ability to steal Chu Yifeng from him.

"Cheng Gege, don't take her lightly. Johanna is a very persistent woman, she will do anything to get the person she likes. Take Lina for example. Five years ago, after Johanna learned that Lina was pestering Leon Ge, she found someone to scratch Lina's face and disfigure her. Although I didn’t really like Lina, Johanna is just too nasty." Sophie hadn’t realized that she’d inadvertently betrayed her Leon Ge.

However, Wang Cheng had no idea about Chu Yifeng's relationships before he was with him. He wasn’t a part of Chu Yifeng's past life and could not control what happened. Instead, he cared more about the last part of what Sophie said.

"So, this Johanna is quite a ruthless character."

"Of course, so you must be cautious of her." Sophie urged: "Earlier, Lina wasn’t even together with Leon Ge, and Johanna was that jealous. Now that you and Leon Ge are together, there’s no telling what kinds of things she’ll do."

"Don't worry, I will pay attention. Thank you for telling me these things." Wang Cheng was very grateful to this little girl he’d met on his first day here. She was not only lovable, but also kind. If she hadn’t reminded him, he wouldn’t have cared about Johanna, and would most likely take her very lightly. So, he was very grateful to her for her kindness.

Sophie blushed after he thanked her. "You are the person Leon Ge likes, and I like you too, so there’s no need for thanks. Although Grandpa Locke doesn't support you being together yet, I definitely support you."

Wang Cheng felt that this little girl was very cute. He wanted to cook some Chinese food for her, but there were no ingredients available in the kitchen, so he could only regretfully decide to do it another day. When they left the kitchen, Carla and his daughter had already been politely sent away by Butler Zander.
